Troubleshooting


Whisper AI / Transcription

"Local Whisper not installed" banner appears

  • Click Set Up Now — the app will install Python and Whisper automatically
  • Or go to Settings → Audio & AI → Set Up Now

"Whisper model not downloaded"

  • Python is installed but the speech model is missing
  • Click Download Model — downloads ~244 MB, one time only

"Visual C++ Runtime missing"

  • The C++ runtime required by Whisper is not installed
  • Click Download VC++ in the banner, or reinstall AnchorCast (it installs VC++ automatically)

Transcription starts but no verses are detected

  • Check your microphone is picking up audio (look at the audio level indicator)
  • Make sure you are in Auto mode (not Manual) in the Schedule toolbar
  • Try speaking a clear Bible reference: "Turn with me to John chapter 3 verse 16"
  • Check Settings → Audio & AI that the correct microphone is selected

Whisper transcription has wrong words

  • Go to Settings → Audio & AI → Adaptive Intelligence and add corrections
  • Make sure you are using the small.en model (not tiny.en) for better accuracy
  • For proper names, add them to Custom Vocabulary

Projection

Projection window opens on the wrong screen

  • Drag it manually to the correct display, then press F11

Screen is black / nothing showing

  • Check the ON AIR button is active (red, top-right)
  • Make sure you have pressed Project Live on a content item
  • Check the LOGO/BG toggles are not covering everything

Projection window won't go fullscreen

  • Click inside the window to give it focus first, then press F11

Timer won't start

  • The projection window must be open — press Ctrl+P first

Remote Control

Can't access the remote from phone

  • Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network
  • Check the URL shown in AnchorCast under the Remote toolbar button
  • Check Windows Firewall is not blocking the port (usually 5000 or 8080)

Remote connects but buttons don't work

  • Your PIN role may not have permission — try the Admin PIN

Songs

Song slides appear with wrong line breaks

  • Edit the song in the Song Manager and manually adjust the slide splits
  • Use a blank line to force a slide break

Genius search returns no results

  • Check your Genius API key in Settings → Integrations
  • Try a different search term (song title only, without artist)

Performance

App feels slow or laggy

  • Close other applications to free up RAM (Whisper AI needs ~2GB)
  • Use the tiny.en or base.en Whisper model instead of small.en
  • Switch to Online (Deepgram) mode for faster transcription
