It seems that, in the long run Wayland, could replace X.Org - at less for Linux users.

There will be a compatibilty layer that will allow X application to run on Wayland, but having native support could be a plus i guess.

I guess that bug 3577096 will be a blocker to this one (GTK+2 can't run on Wayland whereas GTK+3 is supposed to)

    Hi, Please note that with the next version of GNOME (3.20) we should see some distributions switching to Wayland as default (i.e. Fedora 24)
