I checked the FAQ: - configuration file /etc/amavisd.conf too strongly protected; - changed the value of $inet_socket_bind in the config file; - running in a chroot jail; and even compared the config setting and permissions between this server and servers where "amavisd reload" works, and they are identically configured. I didn't see anything strange in my strace output (although I'm not really sure what I should be looking for either). It's not that big a deal, more a curiosity thing...
