Hi all, this might sound a little annoying, but I have come into contact with amavis first when I installed it on my SuSE 7.3 system jst to try out whether it worked or not. I was very pleased and kept it without caring so much about configuration etc., since it prevented me from getting any infected files via email. Fact: I am getting my mail from my various accounts via fetchmail on my linux box and my windows stations pop3 them from there. My linux box is also my MTA that allows me to easily send mail from my windows stations. So far so good, but there's a real problem when I am sending or getting a virus from or to somewhere (tested with eicar.com test pattern), since amavis tries to warn sender and/or recepient, which is a problem because sender's address of all warning messages is pos...@fr... (frankie is my box' name, christian-fieres.de my internal domain which is not known in the wide world) and lots of MTAs out there reject that message because they can't resolve frankie.christian-fieres.de. Consequence is that my sendmail keeps on trying to send this message for five days, eventually I get the known message ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <xx...@yy...> (reason: 450 <pos...@fr...>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found) [...] Message could not be delivered for 5 days Message will be deleted from queue Well, well, I have tried to find out where amavis on SuSE keeps its configuration files, but haven't succeeded... I apologise for not having that deep inside into amavis (which is a great tool, without question), but it seems as if SuSE installed the milter version 0.3.12. All I need to know is: where can I configure that amavis does not send warnings to sender and recepient of the infected message? Since I am a home user and do not provide services for multiple users, I would prefer to inform my buddies out there personally. Anyone got a clue for me? Any help will be appreciated. TIA, Christian |
