Hi David, 
just a question for future developments. I started to make a little graphical bar for the ringbuffer filling, that in the simplest case could just be added to one of the meters in order not to increase CPU resource. 
And so I noticed that the RingBuffer gets filled up when the recording is stopped, which I take for normal since nothing is written to disk and data is coming in.
Would this easily allow to implement a parameter like a before-recording delay? Data for N seconds before record was pressed could then also be written to disk like in TimeMachine...
