Hi, I did some more research on my problem. It seems, that after a random time of any sound application running (e.g. freeamp playing mp3), the soundsystem hangs (-> no sound), and the soundapplications are mostly no killable (this leads me to the assumption that the kernel is doing sth for the application). To fix it, it is enough no kill my XServer (log out), and back in ! I find this very queer. What has my XServer got to do with my sound ? I run KDE, but no arts is started (i saw to that) ! Before I started fiddling with my sound-system, as it was out-of-my-Suse-box, the sound _only_ worked if I was logged in graficly ! I couldnt simply go to a terminal and say "freeamp fjsdklf.mp3", but I had to log into my kde session first. Because of this I assume there are some things going on when I start (and possibly when I stop) the XServer, that are not _normal_, and that propbaly are interfeering with my clean alsa-0.9 install ! I realy need help on this one ! PLEASE :) Peter -- If you make people think they're thinking, they'll love you; but if you really make them think they'll hate you. |
