YMMV, of course. I tried 0.9beta5 - status: compiling and installing worked without problems, modules are loaded (even oss-modules) there is only one mixer and it's working perfect, but: playing files (wav, mp3, au, etc) doesn't work. I've tried different player (aplay, play, also oss-player) and all I get is a "pcm-device unknown" on different pcm-devices yet, because mixer is working, you can play cd's or sound from external input > > The CMMI8330 has been widely discussed on this list, but I never yet heard > of anybody getting it to work completely with alsa. > > BTW, it works pretty well with the OSS/free sb driver, in that I can both > record and playback - but not at the same time (half-duplex only) - and > playing CD's is impossible. With alsa I can play CD's - but can't record. > If only I could run them both at the same time..... hmmm, OSS is working with my CMI8330, even playing CD or external input, full-duplex never tried ... I'm using OSS from SuSE 6.4 (it's free for SuSE customers, but it's only available for ISA-soundcards and it's only working with SuSE-kernel 2.2.14 if you try to update kernel (e.g. 2.2.18 or 2.2.19 ...) oss is no longer working!! bye Johnny > > Bob > > _______________________________________________ > Alsa-user mailing list > Als...@li... > http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user |
