I said in my last message I cannot get any sound apps to play anything - except for aplay - using CMI8330 with ALSA 0.5.11 Not quite true any more; I can play a CD - but the method of getting there is weird. I run 'alsamixer -m1', and raise levels. All the channels appear to raise together - whichever one I select. I still hear nothing. Then I select the CD channel, and hit 'm'. The 'MM' over the control is still there, but all channel levels instantaneously drop to zero. But - the sound suddenly comes in load and clear! Still no luck playing MP3's with XMMS, or WAV files with anything. Sound is working, but OSS emulation is not. /etc/modules.conf #Alsa sound alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-card-cmi8330 alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 snd_device_mode=0666 \ snd_device_gid=0 snd_device_uid=0 options snd-card-cmi8330 snd_index=0 snd_id=CMI8330 \ snd_wssport=0x530 snd_wssirq=11 snd_wssdma=0 \ snd_sbport=0x220 snd_sbirq=5 snd_sbdma8=1 snd_sbdma16=5 Anyone see anything wrong here?
