here are some informations I got from experience:

- if remove this link, the headset is no more seen in skype

That means that skype is more clever than all other programs
(including alsamixer), as it is able to use /proc/asound AND .asoundrc

that seems in contradiction with the above findings, isn't i?

that didn't work, i.e. I still don't see the headset in alsamixer (via F6)
