Hello world, I'm trying to get sound working on my Dell Inspiron 910 netbook. It has an Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02). I have compiled the alsa-driver-1.0.21 modules and they load with no problem. Alsamixer works, I've unmuted all the levels and set them at 100%. The system bell works through the speakers. The problem is that I can't get the speakers to work for anything other than the system bell. speaker-test responds with andy:~$ speaker-test speaker-test 1.0.21 Playback device is default Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 1 channels Using 16 octaves of pink noise ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:977:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore Playback open error: -38,Function not implemented ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:977:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore Playback open error: -38,Function not implemented I've put these lines in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:- options snd-pcsp index=-2 options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=dell If I change the model option to something else (3stack,toshiba or acer) then alsamixer gives me some different options but still sound doesn't work (except for the annoying system bell). I ran the utils_alsa-info.sh script, it's output can be seen here http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=10b783c1178e1fea3676ff54c97da1290f88d0d9 Thanks for reading this. Andy (Andrew Benton) |
