Hello , I have some problems with the soundcard integrated in my laptop. Its a Samsung M50 and according to alsamixer and the laptops documentation it is based on a "Analog Devices AD1986A". I have a gentoo 2.6.14-r2 kernel, alsa v1.0.10. If I try to play a sound file, the left speaker only produces a very high tone, while the right one seems to work fine. But if I touch any mixer setting, sound stops working completely until I removed and reloaded the alsa driver modules into the kernel. Also pausing the playback of any file makes sound stop working. Same problems with "speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2". But if I try multichannel sound, like "speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6" the left and right speaker work fine, i am able to adjust the volume with alsamixer and can start and stop speaker-test without breaking sound. Same with all other channel "-cx" settings except "-c2" ... I have already tried to use position_fix=1 or 2, seems to reduce distortion, but does not help with the main problem. It also does not work with knoppix 4.0 for example, although its loading the (hopefully) right modules, snd-hda-intel...
