The directory is /etc/modprobe.d if you're running sarge with a 2.6.x
kernel.

You can create a new file in that directory and add the options. In
my case I have /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-options which says

# Set preferred order of the sound cards
options snd-intel8x0 index=0
options snd-ens1371 index=1
