Howdy. I recently snagged an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 so I could finally make use of Ardour for recordings. What is driving me nuts at the moment is that envy24control (and the associated kmix tool) seems to be setup so that the "gang" controls are mostly useless in that they only apply to a single channel, so if you want say, PCM Out 1 (i.e. the left output) to go to both channels at equal volume then hey, we've got a program for you. Why you would want to be able to gang left and right to *both* channels is another question - or perhaps the docs are misleading / wrong on this point? If you however want to have the setup presumably desired by 99.999999% of the users of this card of proper panned left and right channels, there is no way to gang pcm 1/2 out or even the DAC 1/2 controls. If you go in and setup the right / left muting correctly in envy24control, it gets reset to ganged if you use the kmix applet so you can control your desktop volume (when you perhaps want to kill of some frustration in UT2004 between kernel recompiles). Am I correct that envy24control is broken (or at least missing functionality in this regard)? If not and I am just an idiot (quite possible), please enlighten me on how to achieve this. If I am not an idiot on this specific topic and this is a problem with the envy24control app, any suggestions on work arounds? =) Major super duper bonus points if you can find a way of boosting the anemic input levels on the 2496 card (line level should mean line level).
