I've have completely different hardware (a cmedia based audio on the=20
motherboard) and I have had the same problem.  I wonder if this is a=20
general ALSA problem. Not having enough gain for microphones?

You can use the lspci -vv command to list the audio card in your system.=20
Posting the information may help you get better replies.

You need to be "root" to use lspci -vv.
