[Alsa-user] recording settings for ALSA

Hey, I am trying to rifle through the documentation to figure out how to
set recording for my line-in.  I have a working microphone but no
working line-in and I have been told I ahve to choose between one or the
other, so I am trying to find a way to select line-in for the task, when
in alsamixer if I go to the capture view I can select "line 2" which is
of course, not 'line-in'.  I have tried just pressing spacebar when I
have line-in selected which of course, in true open source fashion, does
not seem to do what the documentation claims it should (set it for
'<captur>').  Anyone know the remedy?
