[Alsa-user] connecting external MIDI synthesizer

Hi All!

I would like to connect my MIDI keyboard via my Vivanco gameport/midi
plug, but had so far no success with activating my MIDI port, at least i
cannot see that midi communication is working. This is the output of
/dev/sndstat:

I think the problem is the line 'Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG' -
but what is the cure, or in other words - how do i enable the midi?
I'm running kubuntu with a self compiled 2.6.11 kernel, standard config
from ubuntu 2.6.10-5, all packages involved otherwise are from the
ubuntu repositories.
