I've set up two PCs to transfer an audio feed from one place to another over a wireless network link. One reads the audio, encodes it to Ogg Vorbis using ices2 and icecast2 and sends it over the network to the other, which plays it back using ogg123. The problem is at the playback end. Over a period of time, the output volume reduces gradually. The changing volume doesn't reflect in alsamixer, but is noticeable when listening. Running alsactl restore doesn't fix the problem, but adjusting the PCM mixer either through alsamixer or amixer causes it to restore instantly to the correct level. ALSA is version 1.08 running on kernel 2.6.11. The soundcards at each end are Digigram VX222v2 professional cards. The good people at Digigram are working on this, but don't seem to be too experienced with Linux. Any ideas? --=20 Paul |
