The "snd-intel8x0m" is for the modem part of your soundcard and if it's loaded it might be blocking access to audio part of your card. Try removing it (modprobe -r snd-intel8x0m) and then if the snd-intel8x0 (<<make sure there's no "m" on the end of snd-intel8x0) module is loaded, try alsamixer again . If the snd-intel8x0 module isnt loaded do a "modprobe snd-intel8x0" to load it, and try again.
