Since my first post, I've made the following changes: 1. Updated alsa (drivers, lib, utils) to 1.0.9rc4a 2. Run alsaconf to configure the sound card Result: same as before. aplay -D spdif has speaker output but no spdif output (as proved by the minidisc player, which receives no signal from the card via the optical cable). Here is the result of # amixer -d -c 0 scontrols Simple mixer control 'Master',0 Simple mixer control '3D Control - Switch',0 Simple mixer control 'PCM',0 Simple mixer control 'Synth',0 Simple mixer control 'Line',0 Simple mixer control 'Line-In Mode',0 Simple mixer control 'CD',0 Simple mixer control 'Mic',0 Simple mixer control 'Mic Boost',0 Simple mixer control 'Mic-In Mode',0 Simple mixer control 'IEC958 5V',0 Simple mixer control 'IEC958 Copyright',0 Simple mixer control 'IEC958 In Monitor',0 Simple mixer control 'IEC958 In Phase Inverse',0 Simple mixer control 'IEC958 In Select',0 Simple mixer control 'IEC958 In Valid',0 Simple mixer control 'IEC958 Loop',0 Simple mixer control 'IEC958 Output',0 Simple mixer control 'PC Speaker',0 Simple mixer control 'Aux',0 Simple mixer control 'Four Channel Mode',0 Can someone tell me if everything here is right and if it's complete? Sorry but all available doc is sketchy if not contradictory. TIA Doug |
