I am trying to get a 5.1 speaker system running on the card in the subject line. Running kernel 2.4.30 alsa-driver 1.0.8. Tried compiling alsa-driver 1.0.9-rc2 but when I inserted the modules I got unresolved symbol calloc or similar I did not check the spelling so it could have been pgalloc. I reconfigured the mixer to enable the mic as surround/lfe and line as rear and unmuted and set all the volumes. speaker-test -c6 -Dsurround51:1 (this is the second card in the system) produces sound on all speakers except the rear right speaker. I tested the setup under Windows XPsp2 and all speakers function correctly. The card is onboard on a Ga7Vt600-1394 system board. I have tried all values of dxs_support, 0 1 2 3 and 4 with no success. I can provide my alsactl.state on request either by http or email. On an unrelated note I can't play samples at 44100 on this card I get a sample rate not supported. Does this card really lock the rate at 48000 or can I change the ac97_clock value to 44100? Will ac97_quirks help with this or must I use plughw to convert sample rates? This does work but due to the linear interpolation it sounds crackly and horrible. I will try mplayer if I can solve the surround sound problems. I have used the same card under Win XP and either it converts the sample rate for me in software or this card can do it in hardware. I have the datasheet but haven't read it yet. Any place I can find out what all the codec values mean like VRA LDAC SDAC FDAC etc? I know the l f and s stand for lfe front or surround or that seems to make sense. Once this is all a little clearer to me i'll go update the wiki so others don't have to battle as hard as I have had to to get simlar setups working. Regards, Kerry. |
