Hi there, Here is the output from /proc/asound/cards: ------------- 0 [I82801DBICH4 ]: ICH - Intel 82801DB-ICH4 Intel 82801DB-ICH4 at 0xf4fff800, irq 7 ------------- /proc/asound/card0/codec97#0 shows: ------------- 0-0/0: SigmaTel STAC9750/51 Capabilities : -headphone out- DAC resolution : 20-bit ADC resolution : 20-bit 3D enhancement : SigmaTel 3D Enhancement Current setup Mic gain : +0dB [+0dB] POP path : pre 3D Sim. Stereo : off 3D enhancement : off Loudness : off Mono output : MIX Mic select : Mic1 ADC/DAC loopback : off Extended ID : codec=0 rev=1 AMAP DSA=0 SPDIF VRA Extended status : SPCV SPDIF=res VRA PCM front DAC : 48000Hz PCM ADC : 48000Hz SPDIF Control : Consumer PCM Category=0x2 Generation=1 Rate=48kHz --------------- I had a look at another machine (really a VMWare virtual PC) where sound works and realized that in codec97#0 there is no entry in the capabilities line. Does this mean the chip is not recognized to be capable of playing sound through any other device than headphone out?
