Is it possible to run OpenAL apps without the ALSA OSS emulation modules loaded? I have configured my .openalrc file to only use ALSA but I get a failure message if I remove the OSS modules. This happens for two OpenAL apps I use. ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1243:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card open /dev/[sound/]dsp: No such file or directory Can someone explain what is wrong from that error message? I'm not sure if I should be asking the ALSA or the OpenAL guys for help but since ALSA is doing the complaining first ... :) BTW : Apps that support ALSA natively like XMMS run without any problems.
