The sound worked before I put in the soundcard (Audigy2 zs), stopped after. It does work during system boot for voice post messages, but there's no sign of the VT8237 from within Linux. Lspci doesn't show it. The Audigy card works ok. I googled and picked up a rumor, automatically translated from Norwegian or Danish and so a little difficult to understand. But the gist seemed to be that Asus is uncommunicative about the problem, but an Asus salesperson has said the native sound is disabled when a soundcard is detected. A feature, I guess. Very irritating. Greg |
