Hello list! I just bought the very cheap Terratec Aureon 5.1 USB MKII. I plugged it in and it worked. It wasn't in the alsa supported card matrix but Terratec had this line saying "USB audio class specification version 1.0" all over their websites so I thought I can give it a try. The card comes to a very reasonable price. I paid 43€ here in Germany. Features in short: # USB 1.1 interface (USB 2.0 compatible) # USB audio class specification version 1.0 # Buspowered via USB • Stereo line input (3,5 mm jack plug) # 3 stereo line outputs (3,5 mm jack plug) # Optical S/P-DIF digital input (TOS link) # Optical S/P-DIF digital output (TOS link) # Microphone input (3,5 mm jack plug) # Microphone output (3,5 mm jack plug) # Audio resolution: 16 bit # Sample rates o analogue: 32, 44,1 and 48 kHz o digital: 48 kHz # Driver support for Windows 2000/XP As I said before, after pluggin it in the thing worked. You can have a look at the alsamixer picture (and yes, there's only these few sliders) and at the lsusb -vvv output here: http://www-users.rwth-aachen.de/sebastian.kemper/alsamixer_aureon_usb_mk2.png http://www-users.rwth-aachen.de/sebastian.kemper/lsusb_vvv_aureon_usb_mk2 I have it connected to my stereo via optical cable. There's no way to control the volume this way. But I take it that's just normal. I have a TV card with optical audio out and you can't control volume either. When I plug in my headphones I can control the volume with alsamixer using the right slider. But beep-media-player (using the alsa input plugin) can't apparently use it because there are two sliders of the same name (speaker) and when I choose the one at the end of the drop down list it still seems to use the other. The weired things is that in alsamixer under the slider it says "speaker", but on the top left it says "speaker 1". How can one make use of this difference in beep-media-player? It looks like this: Item: Speaker 1 ---#--------# ---#--------# ---#--------# ---#--------# ---#--------# ---#--------# ---#--------# Speaker <Speaker> If anyone has any input on this one I'd highly appreciate it. Will you add this card to the matrix of supported cards? It seems to work just fine. Thanks! Sebastian |
