[Alsa-user] sound card does not apper in alsaconf

Still looking for an answer to why the appropriate sound card
does not appear within alsaconf.
I've done a lot of searching and the only information I can find is a recommendataion to remove ALSA and install OSS.

Alternative suggestions welcome.
