After doing all the stuff...as on the alsa website...i went in and from teh menu went to Volume Control..and Unmuted all that I could find... rebooted teh Linux M/c.. Can hear sound and see Mic running too... However, Sound Recorder in the GNOME menu does not work..it closes down on me....
