It sounds like a rate problem. How did you sample the tape output to digitize it? It sounds like you used too high a rate. You must use 44100, not 48000 (which is the only speed possible on some of the soundblaster audio cards) or 96000. Alternatively, you have a stereo file which is being played as mono. (or you recorded it in stereo, thought you had recorded in mono and told the system to produce a stereo output which is what cd burners require). > > I have tried using oog through the complete process, till I burned it to the > cd, and the same with wav - both file formats appear to create a Audio CD > with these same results. Digital is digital right? How can something that sounds fine get No digital is digital at variable rates and variable number of channels. Ie, a .wav file can be at any speed and any number of channels. By the way, for simple editing I found gcdmaster as good as anything. It allows you to select portions, put in track marks, etc, is extremely fast ( it does not actually edit, is simply gives directions as to which part of the file to use for what). If you want to change samples (fade in fade out, remove clicks, etc,) then it does not do that. But if you simply want to remove, rearrange, put in track marks, etc, then it works great. You just need an intitial .toc file which can be as simple as CD_DA // Track 1 TRACK AUDIO NO COPY NO PRE_EMPHASIS TWO_CHANNEL_AUDIO FILE "output.wav" 0:0:0 to load the file, and then edit away. > so screwed up (digitally) after it is placed on a cd?
