Hello, I just installed Red Hat 9 and I have Sound Blaster Live Value soundcard. I downloaded the following packages at freshrpms.net: alsa-driver alsa-lib alsaplayer alsa-utils alsa-xmms and installed them with rpm -ivh *.rpm Everything installed OK. Then I edited my /etc/modules.conf file which now looks like: alias eth0 e100 alias usb-controller usb-uhci #ALSA portion alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1 # module options should go here # OSS/Free portion alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 # card #1 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss When I rebooted my systems I get an error : Sound server informational message: Error while initializing the sound driver: device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device) The sound server will continue, using the null output device. Now I'm stuck here.....can someone please help me?? Thanks, Robert |
