The thing is, I'm front man in a band, and also the comnposer of the music that we play (sort of symphonic metal!). Up until now I have been using sound studios for windows (which I have found rather sloppy!) but since the rest of my software run in linux, I have finally desided to make the work of finding a good sound studio for linux. I hav now done so. I'ts called "Rosegarden" and (as far as I have read) it supports the features I need for composing music (Combined MIDI and wav samples). But I hit my head on the MIDI interface! My Live Value card works perfectly well with the pcm output (also multichannel support), but I have found no documentation saying that eh MIDI interface should be implemented in the EMU10k1 driver. - Currently I'm reinstalling my system (got sort of sick of the nonstandart RH8) this time I'll try the Debian 3.0rc1. I have found the missing drivers to be included in the kernel v 2.5.x, but have not been able to make it run on my system. - Rosegarden makes use of both ALSA and JACK. If you need more info to help me, please write back! :-) Thanx for the quick reply! // Deva > HI > I had help from a few sources and got midi working for sblive. > what is the problem exactly??? > > One of the main problems I had was missing alsalib-dev and installation > from rpms as opposed to source. > > before you give up lets try again. > Aaron > On Mon, 2003-02-10 at 18:33, Bent Bisballe Jensen wrote: > > >> Hi There fellow ALSA users! >> >> I've been struggeling for a while with my SB live (dammit) soundcard, >> to make the MIDI interface work, and finally i've sort of given it up! >> Now my question is; Which soundcard should i by instead, to ensure >> full MIDI support? >> My wishes are: >> Full MIDI support (including connecting an external keyboard) >> Soundfont support >> and finally std. pcm output support! >> >> tanx! >> >> // Deva >> >> >> >> ------------------------------------------------------- >> This SF.NET email is sponsored by: >> SourceForge Enterprise Edition + IBM + LinuxWorld = Something 2 See! >> http://www.vasoftware.com >> _______________________________________________ >> Alsa-user mailing list >> Als...@li... >> https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user >> > |
