Thanks again. I can see MIDI, and I can play sound, but I need to know of some soft synth and sequencer which will work with ALSA. I tried TiMidity++-2.11.3 but it doesn't like compiling with --enable-audio=alsa. The keyboard can aconnect to OPL3 but I can't hear anything even though the alsamixer says that the 'synth' is on full. I just need to play a note on the keyboard and get some sound out from a program. I am documenting all my adventures with USB MIDI Keyboards and when I'v finished I'll post it to Alsa-Users and Alsa-devel but I need to get the above done first. thanks again, Mike -----Original Message----- From: Takashi Iwai [mailto:ti...@su...] Sent: 23 August 2002 11:12 To: Michael Martin Cc: Alsa Users (E-mail); 'Clemens Ladisch' (E-mail); Martin Langer (E-mail) Subject: Re: [Alsa-user] ALSA USB MIDI Input At Fri, 23 Aug 2002 11:06:28 +0100, Michael Martin wrote: > > Thanks for all the support. ALSA plays PCM sound now (i tested this in XMMS, using the ALSA > output), but how can I get the OPL3 FM synth to give me some sound? try sbiload utility found in alsa-tools package. however, by some reason, the quality of opl3 on cmipci is really bad. you'd better to use timidity (or any other soft-synth) instead. ciao, Takashi |
