This seems to be a bug in either ALSA or KDE, as I've had the same problem. Workaround : Start Konsole. Set LD_PRELOAD to the full path to the ALSA library, ex. "export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libasound.so.2.0.0". Then start kcontrol. However, all it will show is "ALSA Device", so you have to try all the devices that appear. For my SB Audigy, it's the second device, but yours may be different. If any ALSA developer sees this, it would appear that there is a problem checking the symbol versions. The following appears if kcontrol is started without LD_PRELOAD set: gsocker@linux:~ > kcontrol gsocker@linux:~ > ALSA lib dlmisc.c:97:(snd_dlsym_verify) unable to verify version for symbol snd_config_hook_load ALSA lib conf.c:2561:(snd_config_hooks_call) symbol snd_config_hook_load is not defined inside (null) ALSA lib conf.c:2968:(snd_config_update_r) hooks failed, removing configuration handle==0 This is with ALSA dated May 20, 2002 (CVS version). |
