I'm experiencing an issue where email being sent from the allocPSA system is being sent as user@yahoo.com (user being the name of the user currently logged into the system). I have no idea where the yahoo.com part is coming from.
any help you can provide would be most appreciated!

In general, allocPSA will send mail 'as' the username of the person making a comment in a task, with the actual email address being the one specified in the Setup section, under the Email Gateway tab, in the From Adress field.
Can you check what your setting is for this?

ok i checked this and it has the proper email address. however this address is not being used in the from field. its still sending as logged-in-user@yahoo.com

I'm assuming you're seeing this email when you (or someone) is sending an email by adding a new task comment?
Can you check through your list of users in the People tab, and see if you can find one of the users who has an address matching the @yahoo.com domain.

so far everything seems to be pretty straight forward and pretty easy to use. However if i may make a suggestion, the "ticketing" aspect of the system may require some enhancement. i understand that it is not meant to be a full blown ticketing system, however some basic functionality would be great! or maybe the ability to integrate with a system such as OTRS. With more robust ticketing features, i think allocpsa would be a more complete tool.

since the OTRS guys have one of the most comprehensive open source ticketing systems out there, maybe instead of re-inventing the wheel, you could somehow integrate OTRS with allocPSA. That way when a ticket gets submitted by the client, it can be tracked through OTRS, and once closed, can be passed to allocPSA for reporting, timesheets and invoicing. Just an idea. i'm not sure if it is even possible, but it would save you loads of development time.

Hi,
you are correct. i'm sending an email by adding a new task comment.
i've checked through my list of users and @yahoo.com is not being used anywhere.
Hi Attilio,
Perhaps your server is configured to send email via yahoo?
If you send something via the command line, like this:
echo hey | mail youraddress@example.com
What is the from address?
(this is a longshot).
Alex
Attilio,
did you ever find out where this @yahoo.com email address had been configured/specified?
Hi Guys,
sorry it took me so long to respond, but i had some personal matter to attend to and haven't been able to work on my allocpsa installation until now.
Anyhow, great news! the email is now working properly. here is what i have done since last we chatted.
1) upgraded to 1.5.1.1
2) changed the email server i was trying to send through
one of these two resolved my problem!
thanks for your help! and all the best in 2009!
Attilio
Attilio,
that's great news.
How are you finding allocPSA in everyday use?

Attilio,
thanks for your feedback.
What kind of additional functionality do you think that allocPSA needs in order to function well as a full ticketing system?
Hey Con,
since the OTRS guys have one of the most comprehensive open source ticketing systems out there, maybe instead of re-inventing the wheel, you could somehow integrate OTRS with allocPSA.
