AllegroGL is pretty much your only option if you want to use something with Allegro. AllegroGL gives you access to OpenGL and Allegro at the same time. If you don't want to use OpenGL and instead something higher level then that, then I would give up Allegro entirely and go with irrlicht. Its either that or learn how to use OpenGL.
