Ooh, this is obviously a touchy subject. What I mean is that most programmers working with assembly in the realm of Allegro and game programming would be writing for Intel (i.e. x86) CPUs ... sure refridgerators and cars (and a MULTITUDE of other things) have CPUs, but I my game(s) certainly won't run on them :). And as far as Alpha's and Sparcs and all that other "stuff", I'm sure they have stuff too. I remember Alpha's (ha ha ha ha :), heard of MIPs and SPARCs, etc. But you don't quite see as much assembler for them (at least I haven't) -- again, in the realm of game programming. I got a bit behind schedule regarding the new WIP, I shouldn't have imposed a deadline on myself. :) I'm not sure whether I'll be through with it this weekend either, and I'm spending next week in Scotland, but in any case, all the merging I've done so far is now in CVS so someone else could carry on from here. If any users want to get at this code now, they're welcome to it, but it has stronger caveats that real WIP releases. :) Send me a private email for details (don't send to the list, or I'll ignore it). You can access it by CVS, by unpacking a .tar.gz snapshot of the CVS tree, or by applying a patch as usual. As I said, this isn't a release, so you may need special tools (autoconf for Unix; various Unix tools for DOS/Windows). I'm actually tempted to go ahead and release the new WIP this weekend, even if I haven't applied all outstanding patches, but I'll try to get in contact with Shawn before doing this.
