Up to v4.0.2 the win98 timer functions would cater for
high frequencies nicely - I use 10,000 bps in a simulation
program. Under 4.1.0 (have not yet tested higher
versions) any frequency above 1000 bps completely
locks allegro and the os, and is often unrecoverable with
ctrl-alt-del. This is repeatable even in small test
programs.
