Ain 1.1 Released

Our fantastic 2D spacecraft shooter has a 1.1 release. This is mostly to add bug fixes and the homing missiles that were done in the car on the way to the 2002 Game Developers Conference. This is basically a completed game including 2 human player support, 4 computer player support, multiple ships, multiple weapons, sound effects, music, and a nifty menu system. We could add a few other things such as levels or network support, but both of the developers are working on finishing their last semester of college, so those extras may not come around for a while. Stay tuned (or not).

New version forthcoming

We're still plugging along on Ain, as GDC is coming up in two weeks. Over the last version, we have two new ships, all new effect graphics (Plink! CRUNCH!), an AI (which is decent but still needs lots and lots of work). Before the next release, we're going to do a bit more with the AI, and try and get a working in-game menu going. We've been leaning towards many ships - each one having a unique sort of weapon. Ideally, one will be able to select the number of players and then set an arbirary amount to be AI. Stay tuned...

Ain Project Launch - Alpha 0.60

Ain is here. It's a playable game at this point, two players can fight each other (on the same machine), and of course the game keeps track of score, life, etc. We have two different weapons (with similar physics), two ships, sound effects, explosions, and of course some nice graphics. And BOOM! Not to mention POW! Our next milestone is undecided, but we may go for AI, for a menu system with selections for different ships/weapons, or networking. Or maybe we'll just fix up some of the bugs... *cough*
