I have encounterd problems with my TableTrans
installation. It crashes when I use swedish characters
such as ĺ, ä and ö, and possibly when using characters
other than from the english alphabet.
I've tried it both on a compiled version on Linux and a
binary version on Windows.

Multitrans allows fast transcription/annotation of up to 4
channels of speech. Until recently, there was a problem
using it for Japanese because of faulty character display.

The following fix solves that problem. I hope that many
people will now be able to test the benefits of this
software for themselves, and that we can use it to
standardise transcription of Japanese speech and conversations.

    Fix 1: for display:

    in bin/Multitrancs.tcl, change

    .trans1.annot1 insert $row.1 $value
    to
.trans1.annot1 insert $row.1 [encoding convertfrom shiftjis
    $value]

(and similarly for annot.2, annot.3, and annot.4 of
    course. )

    Fix 2: for font selection:

    in lib/tk8.3/agtk/ag-text.tcl, change
    -family $font_family
    to
    -family {$font_family }
    for setting/displaying font details

this then allows font names which include spaces (like Times
Roman) as well as simple names (like Times). Many Japanese
fonts have spaces in their names.

    Hi,

I am sorry for the delay --- we overlooked this bug
report. We are soon releasing an updated version of
TableTrans which can specify a "character encoding" to use.
Hopefully, this version can handle swedish characters
    correctly.
