Similar to UML 2.0 Activity Diagrams it should be possible to see Roles also in a Swimlane view and not only as small icons. Of course this should be changeable and adaptable to one's preferences.
A first version of this feature has been implemented in 2007, but showed some problems. With the advent of aspects in version 1.6.0, it is much easier to include new model elements and the colleagues of Bull, France, are currently working on this issue (Swimlanes) again.
