#5 Cannot add user

I just installed v0.3.1a of ask. When I try to add the
first user the result after pressing the "add user" button
is an browser error: "this page cannot be displayed",
when showing: http://mhp.es.oersted.dtu.dk:8192/cgi-
bin/user.add.save.py

I just tried it on my own system and it worked fine. Are there
any error messages in your httpserver.log?

I suddenly realize that I am using Python 2.2.2. could that be
the problem?

No, it shouldn't matter that you're using 2.2.2. I'll install a
fresh AfW (with no users) on my system this evening and see
if I can reproduce the problem.

I just went through the whole process of downloading AfW
from Sourceforge then followinfgthe Quick Start Guide step by
step to set up a new system. I added a user, edited that user
and saved the changes with no errors.

Morten, can you try installing from scratch again? Get 0.3.1a
and do a fresh install. Let me know if you get the same errors.

I have just re-downloaded and installed afw, no change. I
suppose there is nothing else to do than delete the afw
directory, extract a new version, but it did not help. I'm
running internet explorer 6.00.28, Windows 2k sp1, and IIS
also (for running a Moin Wiki)

Is there anything else I can try? I would rather use AFW than
buying choicemail, but my trial period is running out and I
need a C/R system for my mail.

Sorry for the delay. What user ID are you trying to use? From
your log information it looks like you *can* add a user but
cannot edit that user. Try a different user ID, perhaps "test".
Also, there should be a file in your "C:\winprogs\afw" folder
called "users.rc". What are the current contents of that file?

Sorry for my delay too (was 10 days on Hawaii :-)

I have moved the afw to c:\afw to make sure, that did not
matter - no change.

I can add the user and my users.rc file looks like this:

mhp;2322c8e4;Morten Pedersen;C:/afw/home/mhp/;false

I can also delete it, but also get an error in the browser after
hitting the delete button. But the resulting users.rc becomes
empty, as it should.

I suspected the error could be some server/browser
incompability and tried using opera as browser instead.
Everything works in opera. The resulting URL's are exactly the
same after having pressed e.g. the Add User button:

http://mhp.es.oersted.dtu.dk:8192/cgi-bin/user.add.save.py

My IExplorer is version: 6.00.2800.1106.

Can you explain this? Since all code is running on the server
side the browser shouldn't have much influence on the result
or?

Now (when using Opera) I can add a user (users.rc):

but I cannot login, afw says no users are defined, which
seems strange - and I have marked it as active (which, I
presume is the true entry in the users.rc file).
