LucasArts .LAA playback in Monkey2, Indy4 and DotT

The LucasArts Adlib MIDI playback in Adplug seems to
work fine for music from Loom, Indy3 and Monkey Island
2. However the tracks from later titles such as Monkey
Island 2, Indy4 and Day of the Tentacle frequently
sound different from the originals.
I noticed that ScummVM (in Adlib emulated mode) plays
back the music of these games perfectly, might they be
using a better LAA / ADL interpreter?
Just in case Adplug development is still going, I'd like to give some comparisons to demonstrate this bug.
Here's the .LAA file that Adplug can play back:

and here's an MP3 recording, from DOSBox, of the same track:

DOSBox's Adlib emulation is ~99% perfect, while Adplug's playback of LAA files for every game *after* Indy3 (Last Crusade) is way off. Any ideas why?
