[ADodb-general] charset and Oracle

How can I change the charset in a Oracle connection?
I'm connectin to Oracle 10g express edition with dns connection typ and
after the connection ( I tried before too) I make "$connection->charSet =
"utf-8".
Nothing happens. No error and no change in the charset.
What I'm doing wrong? How can I make this?
