Using current Linux kernel (ArchLinux, both stock and PF), X segfaults when flipping the screen around and closing (tablet mode). Killing and/or removing acpid fixes the problem, so I believe it has to do with the 'tablet-mode' acpi event. Someone else seems to be having this problem, but both of our first thought was to submit a bug report to X.org

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56523

Here is my Xorg.0.log:

This doesn't occur on Linux LTS. If I was smart, I would've noticed right away after uprading the kernel what version number but I'm still learning.

This sounds like a problem with the window manager and acpid2's (2.0.17) socket. The window manager might be crashing due to unexpected events coming over the socket. We are currently pursuing this in private email.

Got it. See the bug report on freedesktop for more:

Fix will be in acpid 2.0.18, and hopefully in xserver as well eventually.

Fixed in 2.0.18 which has been released. I also moved the acpid2 project to sourceforge. Check it out here:

Tim: This bug can be closed.
