The power light starts to blink nicely= , > > but the screen does not switch off. In my laptop (Presario 12XL515 - 1200 series) it happens the same. I've=20 compiled the 2.4.17 kernel with the latest acpi patch for 2.4.17 (2001121= 8 if=20 I recall) and the DSDT overriden due to the _SB scope bug (according to=20 Paul's instructions). The current behaviour is: echo 1 >/proc/acpi/sleep The screen blanks but doesn't switch off and the disk continues spinning.= =20 Pressing the power button wakes it up sometimes (???). Sometimes it simpl= y=20 hangs. After "resuming", it doesn't power off on halt anymore, and it doe= sn't=20 "suspend" anymore either. In Windows Me, the equivalent standby mode switches off= the=20 screen and stops the disk. Another interesting behaviour is related to the thermal zones. When I fir= st=20 tried this "new kernel", it complained it didn't find any thermal zone, = and=20 /proc/acpi/thermal was empty. After rebooting, it worked OK, and it seeme= d to=20 me that after heating up a little bit, it worked better! Can this happen?= The=20 first temperature measures seemed too low for me: 17 degrees Celsius and = even=20 lower, although I can'r recall exactly, and after a while it was around 2= 5. I=20 use to work with the AC adapter on so the fan is always on, which may exp= lain=20 low temperature values, but I expected more. Best , Lu=EDs |
