Considering sentencing cygnome2 to death

key points (if you're not patient enough):
- The co-existence of the some packages (such as gtk, ORBit) in this project and in cygwin net release could cause a lot of compatibility problems
- There's no need any longer to keep this project
- I'm considering freezing this project.

Recently, I got some issue report such as
"Can't find gdk_threads_lock in cyggdk DLL"
"cyggdk_pixbuf-2.0-0.dll error"
"Gnome2 cyglinc-1.dll missing"
etc.... read more

Updated: gtk+-2.4.3-1

Hi, all friends

I've updated gtk2 to latest upstream release 2.4.3.

This time I've made gtk private symbols (those started with an '_') also exported, so that some applications could builds successfully.
Refer README in gtk2 source and the following for detail:

Updated: gtk+-2.2.4-2

Hi, all guys

I've uploaded the second release of gtk+-2.2.4.

The major different from gtk+-2.2.4-1 is that now all symbols in libgtk2.0-0
are exported, i.e, symbols started with an `_' now available for applications.

According to the original intention of gtk's developer, these symbols are
gtk's private symbols and should not be used by applications, but acutally
there're a few applications did use them, such as d4x, gnome-commander.... read more

New: dia-0.93 available.

Hi,

I've ported dia-0.93 to cygiwn.
Lanuch your Cygwin setup.exe to check http://cygnome2.sourceforge.net/install,
You can find it in section GTK2-apps and GNOME2-apps.

I disabled the gnome-UI support when building it, which, I think, could make it a little more
stable(at least at present :-).

Not managed to make python scripting plugin to work, neither the prebuilt binary package or the source patch. Might be fixed someday.... read more

I think now we can got into beta stage for the whole GNOME-2 desktop,

Please visit the following URL to subscribe or seach:

"Unofficial" port for GTK+-2.4.0

Hi,

I've got gtk+-2.4.0(glib-2.6.0, atk-1.6.0, pango-1.6.0) built
on cygwin-1.5.5-1, XFree86-prog-4.3.10 with gcc-3.3-1, binutils-20030901-1, libtool-devel-1.5-3.

Currently they are only available on my personal homepage, not uploaded to this project yet,
as they are too new, I don't know whether the applications are compatible or not,
and they're not build with the newly x11-xorg packages.

If you're interested to have a try, download them

GTK+-2.2.4 back port for XFree86 4.2

When GNOME 2.4 came out, I made a try for GTK+-2.2.4 on Cygwin-1.3 + XFree86 4.2 and got a success (and I built XFCE4 rc3 on it, which looks cool)

To get the beautiful look and feel, you need to build fontconfig and xft2 by yourself.
After that, you can use the old patches. Only a few modifications are needed.
I don't know whether there is anybody interested in this. If yes, maybe I'll try to tidy the patches out.... read more
