neko is a self-hosted virtual desktop and browser platform that streams applications to users through WebRTC. It commonly runs inside Docker, providing an isolated remote environment accessible from a regular web browser. Multiple participants can join the same session and see synchronized video and audio in real time. Users can also share control, making it suitable for collaborative browsing, presentations, teaching, debugging, and watch parties. neko is not restricted to browsers and can stream Linux applications, media players, or complete desktop environments. It can also serve persistent or disposable remote workspaces while keeping cookies and sensitive application state on the remote system. Additional use cases include embedded virtual browsers, automation, RTMP broadcasting, recording, and secure access to internal applications.
