    Dear Adempiere community,

I would like to start initiative to re-organize Adempiere menu tree in order to make it more user friendly and more usable. Please use this thread to give feedback and ideas how to improve it. I made some changes like moving all related menu items under the same folder.
Main idea which i try to follow now is to make menu non confusing and to have all related menu items together.

Adempiere Tracker under which changes will be submitted is:
    FR-2830755 Re-Organize menu items

    Kind regards,
    Trifon

Not much chance for discussion Trifon... FR & change all in one post! :p

I remember this topic came up for discussion before.
The  Compiere menus we inherited and not typical it is true.  Typically the menu is broken down by function; Sales Procurement, Inventory, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable etc...

But Jorg & Kathy decided to create the menus more related to roles in a SME/B... in such scenarios people tend to have many tasks that would typically be spread out amongst many in a larger organisation.  So for procurement, we have the Requisition, Purchase Orders, AP Invoicing and even Material Receipt all in one menu - instead of the more traditional
Procurement - Requisition & Purchase Orders
Finance - Accounts Payable - AP Invoicing
      Inventory - Material Receipts.

But this seems to have been a design choice  by Jorg & Kathy.
Now as I said the last time this was raised, the menus are completely customizable so it's not so important as we can all always recreate the menus as we feel is correct, but it would be nice to discuss first what "proper logical places"?
What is logical for one might not be for the other!
So it might be nice to consider & discuss before jumping in and changing.

        Hi Colin,

        >So it might be nice to consider & discuss before jumping in and changing.

My main goal is to gather together all related menu items.

For example "Access Audit" window was moved to Fixed Asset and i think that it should be under "Security" menu.

Just to make menu more logical and avoid user questions why Access Audit is under Fixed asset or similar questions.

        Kind regards,
        Trifon

What is best way to reorganise the manual that is being built because I suspect it is in the same order as the present menu?
          regards

I did point that out as a potential flaw in the approach for the manual!

From Trifon's response I'm thinking he is not reorganizing the menus approach so much as correcting the placement of some new menus to be more in sync with the approach already there! right???

              Yes.
So far i only corrected places of items which were placed at wrong folders.
My request is if you find other menu items which seem out of context in their current location to post comment in this folder and see if we can agree on better place for them.

              Regards,
              Trifon

      Hi Trifon,

I agree with you for the need in reorganizing the menus and there contents . This is a very important step for adding more user friendly features to Adempiere and more professionality. . If you are working on 3.53a I suggest to reorganize the manufacturing module where the cycle of manufacturing can be esier to use. I think most of the menus need to be reorganized. I leave it to the developers and main community persons to decide how will be the best practice for organizing the menus.

      Best Regards.

The Tree Maintenance window itself  is very slippery.

The drag & drop feature should be able to muted.

<< <> >> buttons is placed so close and one click  the whole tree colapse
