I don't know if I restart an old dicussion now that was already thru. If I do so please excuse me and ignore this. :-)
But I would like to tell one idea I had about the SourceForge project name. There are many place here were we appear because we are very active (sourgeforge start page for instance ;-) ). For people who don't know us there is no hint in the name what kind of software we are. I totally agree with red1, that "bazaar" should be in the name because it's another important hint how we are. So what about "ADempiere ERP Bazaar" or "ADempiere Bazaar ERP"?
Just some thoughts I had right now.

It was discussed and voted before in very early thread. Abit split decision. The reason i like to ask for ADempiere Bazaar without more words is, well, too many words clutter. And to try to be like the other ERPs lose our differentiation. We re just Bazaar. Not ERP, not CRM, just bazaar. That ought to be powerful questionmark when ppl wonder why and why not. Thats the big story of branding where you try to stand out distinctively and uncrowded with the crowd who overabuses a generic word. In cyberspace, memory is short. Have a short name.

I said this in the past, Adempiere Bazaar is not a good name for that business community can find ADempiere, In the other hand ADempiere survive of your community and of your sponsors then we should certainly make it easier for them to find us
Our differentiator should be the basis installed and customers happy
This is my propose.
ADempiere Business Suite ERP/CRM/MFG/SCM/POS based in Community Bazaar. ;-)

Well the reasons to distinguish the Bazaar nature of the project are good ones but it doesn't describe at all what the product is. I also find the SF project description (which many reviewers & sites use) leaves me thinking that the project is a addon to compiere, whereas at this stage the two are functionaly similiar but not so compatible anymore.
I also noticed that if you enter "Open Source ERP" into google Adempiere will not show up! (Compiere is top of the list). I don't know much about it but I understood that can be corrected by entering the correct keywords in the tags of the .com & .org sites.... beyond that attaining a high google search result ranking seems to be a science in its own right these days :)

Adempiere ERP/CRM/MFG/SCM/POS is Ok.
My favorite is Adempiere Business Suite, because it increases the curiosity to see what is behind it. Also Business people like word 'Business', it sounds more near to what they need and Adempiere provide everything for them :)
And also there is no Open Source Business Suite on the market we will be the first :)

Agree with Kai, maybe "Adempiere Bazaar ERP" could be good.
No problem Kai, we always say we don't have here "final decisions" - I suppose any community member can reopen a closed thread and restart any discussion.
Conditions change - the finding from Colin is very surprising. Compiere, FacturaLux, OpenBravo, TinyERP, opentaps, ofbiz are on the list on google. It's a big miss not to be there because of an unsuitable name.
Instead of thinking that people would be interested on researching what "Adempiere Bazaar" is, what I've read is that in cyberspace you have very short opportunities to get attention from people - there are lots of readings about usability - and always I find that if you don't catch the attention from people on the first lines they'll abandon your site.
My vote +1 to review the name and the description of sourceforge project.

Actually I wasn't necessarily suggesting a SF project name change!
It could be argued that the project is the Bazaar [the word is used here Joel... but there only 3m of us in Ireland and 300m of ye so that's not to say it's common in the English speaking world :)] and the outcome of that is the Adempiere application. Adding ERP has, however, already ensured we are on page one of a SF search for ERP which is good. :)
Now few commercial applications feel the need to include ERP in their name... SAP, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Siebel, Navision, Dynamics. Really what I was suggesting is that we change the websites to ensure search engines pick us up when looking for Open Source ERP/CRM... etc at the least. Making a list of keywords we think should find us and [looking at my beginners guide to internet search engines :)], including these on headers on our website index pages, adding some meta keywords (i read google doesn't use meta tags but perhaps others still do!) and adding a meta description that describes the product as an ERP so the results clearly identify the Adempiere product as a ERP/Business Suite - rather than allowing google to just take any snippet of the page. Now I know our .com & wiki are using joomla & wiki so I'm not sure how these tags are added in such cases!?
In the end I'm opf course happy to go along with the majority but I just wanted to be clear on what I said yesterday.

+1 to add ERP to the SourceForge Project name for all the reasons in the thread so far.
+1 for the longer title to be: Adempiere Business Suite Open-Source ERP CRM MFG SCM POS
Use this in project description, website, marketing materials, etc.
+1 to remove bazaar from the SF project name. Although it represents a concept important to the project culture, it is not meaningful to the uninformed. Bazaar has no current, relevant connotative meaning to most native English speakers. The denotative meaning is certainly not appropriate for this community (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bazaar). Meanwhile, the word Bizarre carries strong connotation, and not one you want associated with ADempiere. But that's just IMHO... :)

Moyses,
That is more fitting in the wiki, but its one sided towards JJ, dont u think? Now, for the Project Decription, it has a default of 254 chars to all appear in front page. So we still have room but for economical words so that ppl can find us with a simple search for 'compiere' in SF. We need to arrange all that way into a readable sentence. We have to incorporate all the nominated wish words here. I agree that a search for ERP may not get hit in the 'Name'. I may think that a 'bizarre' makes ppl curious enough, but i agree that we cannot count on that, and Bazaar is not that niche now since everywhere i go i see that word. Many ppl just aint bothered about reading further. But the word 'Compiere' somewhere strikes cos if u do a search for the top name i.e. Compiere (since we wont be able to bypass a paying search engine occupant in google) within SF will hit comxe, mfgscm and any project that has a 'compiere' in it.

I totally agree with armenrz. Adempiere description it is too technical oriented, no business oriented.
Once again just take a look to our father, Compiere, they include many business terms:
Distribution,
Retail,
Manufacturing
Service industries.
Accounting
Supply chain
Inventory
Sales orders
Open Source
Now we may try to analyze Ubuntu:
About Ubuntu
Ubuntu is a community developed, linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.
The Ubuntu promise
* Ubuntu will always be free of charge, including enterprise releases and security updates.
* Ubuntu comes with full commercial support from Canonical and hundreds of companies around the world.
* Ubuntu includes the very best translations and accessibility infrastructure that the free software community has to offer.
* Ubuntu CDs contain only free software applications; we encourage you to use free and open source software, improve it and pass it on.
So what about something like this for our project description:
What is Adempiere:
Is a community developed, business software that is well suited for small and median enterprises. It contains all the basic functionality needed for managing a company: purchasing, inventory, production, sales management and crm, financial management, project and service management, human resources and business intelligence.
The Adempiere promise (what will make us different!):
* Adempiere will always be free of charge, including version updates. So no vendor lock ins.
* Adempiere support is fully supported by a network of consultants companies around the world.
* Adempiere etc.
Best Regards!

I would add to the project's description something related to open source.

Hey Red, what about chaging the last sentence to something like:
According to Jorg Janke we are a bunch of screamers in Compiere forums.
