I'm trying to familiarize myself with the UNIX command line and thought GnuWin32 would be a good way to do it. I've grabbed a couple of packages but can't seem to find either info or man. I'd like to be able to view the man- and info-formatted documentation so I don't have to leave the command line, but not having the readers, I have to use a kludgy DOS macro invoking less to read the plain text files in the man/cat1 directory.

Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction as to where to get info and man? TIA.

There is no man reader on MS-Windows. You can read the text-formatted man pages (in cat1) with a text browser such as Wnbrowse <http://www.ngthomas.co.uk/wnbrowse.htm> or a text editor such as Notepad. For info files, you can use TkInfo <http://math-www.uni-paderborn.de/~axel/tkinfo>. Probably the best way to read the docs and man pages is to view the PDF versions with Acrobat Reader or the HTML versions with an HTTP-browser, e.g. Internet Explorer.

      Hi,

You can get TkInfo at <http://math-www.uni-paderborn.de/~axel/tkinfo/> and TkMan at <http://tkman.sourceforge.net/>. You will need TCL/Tk installed <http://www.tcl.tk/software/tcltk/>.

Jed is supposed to work on Windows <ftp://space.mit.edu/pub/davis/jed/> for viewing info files.

I found a couple of old Perl scripts using Google, but they didn't look too good...
