Written primarily in Swift with Apple platform conventions, this client lets users authenticate with their Proton accounts, select server locations, and manage advanced privacy features like automatic reconnection and DNS leak protection, tailored for Apple’s networking APIs. Because iOS and macOS have strict networking and extension models, the app uses system VPN configurations and integrates with native controls for background operation, seamless switching, and efficient battery usage. It supports both free and premium tiers of ProtonVPN, offering users flexible connection options while preserving Proton’s strict no-logs privacy policies.
