VLC is an open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework, which plays most multimedia files, DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. VLC media player is simple, fast, and powerful. It plays everything, files, discs, webcams, devices, and streams. VLC plays most codecs (MPEG-2, DivX, H.264, MKV, WebM, WMV, MP3, etc.) so no codec packs are needed. It runs on all platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Unix, etc. And VLC is hassle free with no spyware, no ads, and no user tracking.

QtAV is a cross-platform and high performance multimedia playback framework based on Qt and FFmpeg. Features: timeline preview, gpu decoding etc

maemorelay is an MPEG-1 and 2 stream relay GUI application built on top of live media libraries. Streams can be relayed through a Nokia N810 device using maemoudp.

MedosW is a media open source wrapper build on top of gstreamer. Provides: Playback functionality for mp3 and ogg files and their metadata extraction. Future version will support multiple of enhancements.
